Galbi (갈비) and bulgogi (불고기) is very popular with many fussy eaters (like mine at home ☺️). To make this more accessible to those with busy lives here is how you can make your own sauce to keep in a bottle for months and use when you need to.
Cooking time: approx. 15min
Ingredients:
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
10cm leek
1/2 brown onion
1/4 cup (small handful) garlic
1/4 Korean pear or 1/4-1/2 sweet apple (depending on size)
1/2 cup brown sugar (you can use white or raw but I prefer brown)
Pepper (couple of pinches)
First, prepare (clean and peel) all the ingredients. Cut up the the onions, leek, pear (or apple) and garlic into cubes. Put all the ingredients into either a blender or food processor, and add a couple of pinches of pepper.
I recommend using a food processor but blender still works. Now, if after you poor all the ingredients into your container, and it's full like mine, then I suggest either dividing it up or putting it in a bigger container. If it's too full then the contents won't process fine enough and you'll end up with chunks. I learnt it the hard way 😅
Now blend away!
This is what it'll look like
It's now ready to store.
Over time the soy and water will sink to the bottom, so before using the sauce, make sure to stir.
Enjoy!
