At the beginning of this year (2023), my husband and I decided to do something different and interesting as a couple, so we came up with Project Manhattan (not to be confused with The Manhattan Project). One of our favourite cities in the world to go visit is New York City (more specifically Manhattan Island). We selected 12 areas of Manhattan, one for each month, put these in a hat, together with our names, and drew these out of a hat. Every month one of us would be responsible for coming up with a themed fun event to do with that part of Manhattan.
January was Alphabet City!
My husband took me to Alphabet St in Cronulla, Sydney

The modern asian restaurant serves food with south asian flavours and has apple as an ingredient for a number of their dishes. We started with an apple martini (you can request a virgin version - without Vodka) which I tried for the first time and really enjoyed it.
We then chose a few dishes off the snacks/starters section and loved all of them. I highly recommend Miang (bital leaf) with prawn and coconut. Unfortunately I got so excited when the food came out, I forgot to take a photo. Nonetheless, this is a must!
We also ordered the Hiramasa kingfish sashimi (also forgot the photo ^^)
Barrumundi dumplings (see below),

Bao bun with crispy fried chicken (below) - great flavours and awesome crisp

Papaya salad (see below) - quite strong flavour but tasty

and finally, finished with a green curry (see below), which comes with murray cod as the protein.

All in all, we enjoyed the flavours and variety of the food. To be honest I haven't ordered this many asian dishes with fish (I would normally order pork, prawns, chicken or beef) but the chef was able to create a great combination of flavours.
I recommend Alphabet St.
Very cool idea! Couldn't get past The Manhattan Project though :P
